Our Transition to New Ministry

September 22, 2024
The Search Team, composed of Andy Ross, Arminta Carmichael, Wanda Keith, Adam Forbes and Marjorie Duizer, is thrilled that the Congregation accepted their recommendation to call Rev. Rohan Pushparajan as full-time minister to Lakeshore United Church. We look forward to Rev. Rohan starting his ministry with us in January 2025.

Rohan comes to us from Kerala, India.

When Andy Ross informed Rev. Rohan Pushparajan about the positive outcome of our congregational meeting in an email titled “Welcome to Lakeshore United Church” this was Rev. Rohan’s response:

Dear Andy and the Search Team,

What a wonderful way to start the morning! I’m deeply grateful to God for this much-awaited news from Lakeshore United Church. My heartfelt thanks to the Search Team, and my love goes out to the entire Lakeshore community at this special moment.

I will be praying for the Regional Council's approval on October 15, trusting that all will go well. As mentioned, we can certainly plan some Zoom meetings in the coming months to discuss housing, schools, transportation, and ensure everything is well-organized.

Please continue to remember us and our ministry in your prayers as we prepare for this new journey together.

Love and Peace,
Rohan

Our Mission:  "With Christ as our Guide, we are called to be an inclusive, progressive faith family, to worship God, nurture our community and serve the wider world."
Statement of Intention:
  • We are intent on making Lakeshore United Church a broader reflection of God’s vision for creation, to be a safer haven for all seeking peace, justice, affirmation, acceptance, and equality.
  • We are a people who celebrate differences and accept them as gifts; in a place where new ideas are embraced, rather than feared, as we learn to expand our hearts and open our minds so that all are welcome.
  • We are called to be a part of a ministry that welcomes and includes all, honours the gifts of each, and recognizes that all receive God’s abundant grace.
  • We affirm that this includes full participation of persons of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, abilities, ages, economic circumstances, ethnic and faith backgrounds in the life and work of the ministry.
  • Jesus reached out to all people, honouring all in their diversity.  We celebrate the richness this brings to Lakeshore United Church.
